On 14 November 2025, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted the final lecture by Giovanni Ercolani within his original series “Anthropology and Security Studies.”
During this concluding session, the researcher presented the topic of anthropological fieldwork, focusing on culture, identity, myths, symbols, rituals, and emotions. The lecture included an analysis of Giovanni Ercolani’s field studies in Lebanon (UNIFIL Mission) and his work with military and civilian communities.
A special part of the lecture was devoted to his long-term research on the artists of the Revolution of Dignity and the formation of the “Spirit of Maidan,” which, according to the researcher, has become a key element of contemporary Ukrainian identity.
The Department of Sociology sincerely thanks Professor Giovanni Ercolani for delivering this lecture series and for the gifted book “Anthropology and Security Studies,” which will enrich the department’s library.
We are grateful for the inspiration, depth of analysis, and support of the Ukrainian academic community during the war. We look forward to future meetings and continued cooperation!
