Гвідо Секі має PhD з міського та регіонального планування, він є дослідником кафедри соціально-економічної географії Латвійського Університету Латвії, викладачам дослідницьких методів та аналізу даних в соціальних й когнітивних науках у Ризький вищій школі права та співвласником й провідним експертом TCDConsulting (Рига, Латвія).
MYTH, NATIONAL IDENTITY, AND POLITICS: THE ROOTS OF RIGHT WING HEGEMONY IN THE POLITICAL DISCOURSE IN EASTERN EUROPE
Mythological materials are consciously or unconsciously used in any political and identity building process. However, it can be argued that such a massive use is functional to the emergence of a right wing cultural hegemonic discourse. The tools of myth manipulation, its consequences, and its culturally right-wing roots will be discussed on the basis of a framework indebted with the work of Italian German studies and myth scholar Furio Jesi and American cognitivist George Lakoff. The discussion will mainly focus on the context of the post-USSR space – Baltic states and Ukraine in particular – where mythological materials are extensively used in recent years, in order to fill the national identity gap descending by brief or lack of national statehood experience, and as a way to remark discontinuity with the Soviet past.
